What is a drum?

If you hear the word drum in English it often refers to a musical instrument.   But in a factory it is talking about a really big can.   These can contain paint, oil, or other chemicals.   In casual everyday conversation someone may use “drum” and “can” and “barrel” interchangeably.   When we speak of oil production on world markets we measure it in barrels of oil.
