Verbs

Welcome to grammar Friday!   Today we will start to talk about verbs.   There will be more posts in the future about verbs because the simple definition, even though it is good, does not tell the whole story.

Definition:  A verb is an action word.   

Examples:

  • Susan is sewing t-shirts.  (sewing is the verb)

  • Hans chops wood.  (chops is the verb)

  • Carlos glues boxes together.  (glues is the verb)

  • Jim runs.  (runs is the verb)
