Nouns
Anyone who has gone to grade school in the English speaking world has learned that a noun is a person, place or thing. This is good but there is a helpful addition to the definition. It can also be an idea. Let’s look at some nouns used in factories.
The boss told me to work more quickly. (Boss is a person).
I went to work. (Work is a place)
George lost his hammer. (George is a person and hammer is a thing, both are nouns)
The Acme bottle company increased productivity by fifty percent. (productivity is an idea, it is not something you can touch but it is still a noun)
