Grease

If you did not catch the reference to the 1970’s musical check out this link and this link.   Following Friday’s grammar post here is another word that is both a noun and a verb.   Grease is a petroleum product (it comes from oil) that is used to lubricate things and reduce friction.

Jordan is greasing the bearing in order to stop it from squeaking.  (grease as a verb)

Jordan is applying grease to the shaft in order to stop it from squeaking (grease as a noun).

Do people still put grease in their hair?   Yes, but instead of saying grease we call it gel.  (grease as a noun)
