Prepositions

I was going to do Nouns today because I have been doing the Parts of Speech on Fridays in alphabetical order.   However I already did back on December 16th.   So today we will talk about prepositions.

Prepositions are words that establish relationships between things in time and space and also tell how things happen.   Here are some examples.

The knife is on the table.  (“On” is the preposition).   It tells you where the knife is in relation to the table.

The knife is under the table.  (“Under” is the preposition).   It tells you where the knife is in relation to the table.

Before the blade was changed, Charles cut one more box.  (“Before” is the proposition

The specific type of knife shown in the picture is known as a box cutter knife or a utility knife.

Prepositions can be complicated.   I can help you with them.  If you have any questions leave a comment or send me an email at doug@English-With-Doug.com.
