Tracking Your Inventory
How do you do it?
How do you keep track of your inventory as it goes through different stages of production? Or perhaps when it simply moves from one physical location to another? You do this with part numbers. Every company has their own numbering system of numbers for keeping track of parts.
Part Number. Definition: A part number is a unique combination of numbers and/or letters which helps to track products through various states of manufacturing. They also help to track the location of parts. Example: The stove handle was given a different part number after it was painted.
Barcode. Definition: A series of thin and thick black lines that can be read by a computer scanner. Often the barcode represents a part number. Example: John had to put two barcodes on each box.
