Allen Keys

What is an Allen key? You might hear this word in an English factory but it also has a couple of other names which are common. They are hex key, hex wrench or Allen wrench. This is basically a six sided screwdriver however it does not have a handle, rather it turns at ninety degrees and has a short end and a long end. As I found out in researching this article, the word “Allen” is a trade name which is under copyright and the owners prefer that people not use this reference unless specifically talking about their product. I think however that it is too late for this because “Allen Key” is very common and very few know it is a trade name.
